Large-Bore Centreline Butterfly valve
Large-Bore Centreline Butterfly Valve is a key control device for industrial pipeline systems, designed to handle high-flow media. Nominal diameters typically range from DN300 to DN3000, making it suitable for water supply and drainage, municipal heating, power plant desulfurization, and metallurgical blast furnace applications. It features a compact structure, high flow capacity, and easy operation.
Core Structure and Working Principle
The valve uses a centerline-symmetrical disc design, where the disc rotation axis aligns with the valve body centerline. Valve seats are commonly soft seals (EPDM, NBR) or metal hard seals. The valve body is typically made of cast steel or stainless steel and can be installed with flange or welded connections. Actuation options include manual gearbox, pneumatic, and electric drives, enabling remote and automated control.
The valve operates by rotating the disc 0°–90° to regulate flow. When fully open, the disc aligns parallel with the flow path, offering minimal flow resistance and high flow coefficient. When fully closed, the disc tightly engages the seat, providing reliable sealing for large-diameter pipelines and precise throttling capability.

Performance Advantages
High Flow Capacity: Full bore design and smooth flow path minimize pressure loss, making it suitable for high-flow media, especially low-viscosity fluids like water, steam, and flue gas.
Stable Sealing: Soft-seated models achieve API 6D Class VI leakage rating, suitable for low-temperature, low-pressure conditions. Metal hard-seated models withstand high temperature and pressure, with operating temperatures from -40°C to 600°C, meeting demanding industrial requirements.
Cost and Installation Efficiency: Compared to gate and ball valves of the same diameter, butterfly valves are more compact and lightweight, reducing installation space and cost. Seat replacement is quick without removing the valve body.
Flexible Operation: Low operating torque allows manual, turbine, or electric actuation. Large-diameter models can be equipped with worm gear or electric actuators for precise opening control, compatible with automated control systems.
Typical Applications
Large-diameter CenterLine Butterfly Valves are widely used in municipal water supply and drainage networks, thermal power plant circulation water systems, steel plant blast furnace gas pipelines, wastewater treatment aeration systems, and large central air-conditioning water systems, particularly in high-flow, low-pressure-loss scenarios.
