Reliable Semi-ball valve for Industrial and Pipeline Use
The industrial semi-ball valve is a flow control device specifically designed for pipelines handling high-abrasion or high-viscosity media. Its core component, the semi-spherical ball, combines excellent shut-off sealing, strong erosion resistance, and low flow resistance. This makes it widely used in heavy industrial sectors such as metallurgy, mining, and coal, serving as a key solution for preventing pipeline blockages and leakage when transporting particulate-laden media.
Core Structure and Working Principle
Structural Design: The valve features an eccentric semi-ball core with metal-to-metal hard sealing seats. The body is typically made of cast steel or stainless steel, with some models lined with ceramic, polyurethane, or other wear-resistant coatings. Safety features include blowout-proof stems and anti-static grounding, and the valves support flange or welded connections to suit various pipeline installations.
Control Principle: The semi-ball core rotates 90° to open or close the valve. When open, the semi-ball core fully disengages from the flow path, allowing unrestricted flow. When closed, the core tightly engages the seat, and the eccentric design creates sealing compression to achieve bi-directional tightness. This design allows precise flow adjustment and effective on/off control for large-diameter pipelines.

Performance Advantages
Wear and Blockage Resistance: The smooth flow path of the semi-ball core prevents material buildup and scaling. It resists erosion from slurry, fly ash, and other particulate media, with a service life 3–5 times longer than traditional ball valves.
Reliable Sealing: Metal-to-metal hard seals withstand high temperature and high pressure, achieving ISO 15848 Class B leakage rating. The valve operates reliably between -29°C and 550°C, meeting stringent industrial sealing requirements.
Easy Operation: Low operating torque allows manual, pneumatic, or electric actuation. Large-diameter models may include worm-gear or turbine drives for effortless opening and closing, supporting remote and automated control.
Low Maintenance: The eccentric design reduces friction between the core and seat. Wear parts are easy to replace, and top-entry designs allow online servicing without removing the valve from the pipeline, minimizing downtime and operational costs.
Typical Applications
Metallurgy and Mining: Flow control in blast furnace coal injection and slurry transport pipelines, with excellent erosion resistance.
Coal and Power Plants: Isolation and flow regulation of fly ash transport and desulfurization slurry pipelines, preventing clogging.
Building Materials and Chemical Industry: Open/close control for cement clinker and high-viscosity media pipelines, adaptable to harsh industrial conditions.
