Wear-resistant Metal Seated Butterfly valve
The wear-resistant metal seated butterfly valve is a critical flow control device for industrial pipelines operating under high-wear, high-temperature, and high-pressure conditions. Featuring a metal hard-seal structure with wear-reinforced design, it effectively resists erosion from particulate and high-viscosity media. This valve is widely used in heavy industries such as metallurgy, mining, power generation, and building materials.
Core Structure and Sealing Principle
Valve bodies are typically made of cast steel, stainless steel, or wear-resistant alloy steel. Disc surfaces are overlaid with hard materials such as tungsten carbide or Stellite alloys, or coated with ceramic layers to enhance wear resistance. The valve seat uses a metal hard-seal design that forms a precise fit with the disc sealing surface.
The valve employs eccentric designs (single, double, or triple eccentric) to ensure the disc disengages from the seat without friction during operation, preventing seal surface wear. When closing, the eccentric moment generates forced sealing pressure, ensuring reliable sealing under high pressure. Safety features include blowout-proof stems, anti-static grounding, and fire-safe packing to meet industrial safety standards.

Key Advantages of Wear Resistance and Sealing
Exceptional Wear Resistance: Hard alloys or ceramic coatings with hardness up to HRC60 withstand long-term erosion from slurries, fly ash, and slag, offering a service life 5–8 times longer than standard soft-seated butterfly valves.
High-Temperature and High-Pressure Sealing: Metal seal design operates reliably from -40°C to 650°C, with pressure ratings from Class 150 to Class 2500 (PN16–PN420). Leakage meets ISO 15848-1 Class A zero-leakage standard, suitable for isolating flammable, explosive, or toxic media.
Stable and Easy Operation: Eccentric design significantly reduces operating torque. Manual, pneumatic, or electric actuation is supported, and electric models with intelligent positioners allow precise 0–100% flow control. Modular design enables online replacement of the seat and disc without removing the valve from the pipeline, reducing maintenance downtime.
High Adaptability: Eccentric design can be customized based on application. Single eccentric is suitable for low-pressure wear-prone pipelines, while triple eccentric fits high-temperature, high-pressure, and severe conditions. Full bore design minimizes flow resistance, accommodating large-volume media transport.
Typical Applications
Wear-resistant metal-seated butterfly valves are ideal for blast furnace coal injection pipelines, mine tailings transport systems, flue gas desulfurization slurry pipelines in power plants, and cement clinker transport pipelines in building materials plants. They provide reliable sealing and extended service life in high-wear industrial conditions.
