Cast Steel Wedge Gate Valve With Flanged Ends
The cast steel wedge gate valve with flanged ends is a core on/off control valve in industrial piping systems. Relying on the high strength of the cast steel body and the reliable sealing of the wedge-shaped gate, it is widely used in high-temperature and high-pressure applications across industries such as petroleum, chemical processing, and power generation.
The valve’s main structure consists of a cast steel body, wedge gate, flanged ends, stem, and actuator. The body is commonly made from high-quality cast steels such as WCB and WC6, with a temperature range from –29 °C to 425 °C, offering resistance to acidic and alkaline media as well as high-pressure impacts. Wedge gates are available in two types—solid wedge and flexible wedge. The flexible wedge design can automatically compensate for thermal deformation, preventing gate binding and improving sealing stability. The flanged ends comply with standards such as ASME B16.5 and API 605, with facing options including flat face, raised face, and ring-type joint. This design allows quick installation and removal without welding, significantly reducing maintenance costs.

According to stem design, the valve is available in outside screw and yoke (OS&Y) and non-rising stem types. The OS&Y design provides a clear visual indication of valve position, making it suitable for applications requiring frequent monitoring. Multiple actuation options are available, including manual, pneumatic, electric, and gear-operated drives, to meet different automation requirements. Nominal sizes range from DN15 to DN1200, with pressure classes from Class 150 to Class 2500. The full-bore design ensures low flow resistance and minimal pressure drop.
In terms of performance, the valve offers excellent sealing capability, with the wedge gate pressed tightly against the seat under medium pressure, resulting in leakage rates well below industry standards. It also features strong impact resistance and wear resistance, enabling long-term stable operation in pipelines conveying steam, oil products, natural gas, and similar media. Manufacturing and testing strictly follow standards such as API 600 and API 598, with multiple inspections—including shell pressure tests and seat sealing tests—conducted to ensure compliance with industrial safety and reliability requirements.
